One morning I was waiting for an afternoon appointment, and got the opportunity to explore a small, wooded area outside Rochester, Washington. I was drawn in by the beautiful colors of the foliage, and small pops of color I could see. I followed the faint sound of running water to a babbling stream, and there on the other side was something I'd only seen in books as a child... a pure white Trillium flower! After staring in admiration/disbelief, and some rather precarious positioning, I was able to capture the image you see below.
The last few images are of other little wonders I discovered on my little excursion. I was reminded of just how much people miss out on (myself included at times) in our hurried existence by simply not taking just a few minutes to really look and not just glance at our surroundings such as just how intricate the leaves on hypnum moss growing in the forest or near streams is, or just how small we are compared to the coastal redwood trees. I encourage you to get out anytime and anywhere you can to experience the stunning beauty our world has to offer whether it's on a trip out of state or in your own neighborhood. Leave a comment and let me know what you think or share a memory of your own exploration of nature, see you on my next blog installment.
